Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada has appointed a new executive vice president, general manager.

The division of Southern Wine & Spirits of America said yesterday (15 August) that industry veteran John Wittig will take on the role after the recent passing of Sid Chaplin.

Wittig brings with him over 24 years of previous industry experience with companies such as  the Genesee Brewing Company, Seagram & Sons, Brown-Forman and Glazier's Union Beverage Company.

Wittig said: "I am thrilled and extremely honoured to join this world-class organisation and look forward to all of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in overseeing the Southern Wine & Spirits' Nevada operation. In doing so, I will maintain the single-minded goal of meeting and exceeding the expectations of all of our trading partners."

Southern Wine & Spirits of America executive vice president, general manager Brad Vassar added: "I have every confidence in John's success as he works with our current, outstanding leaders of Larry Ruvo and Tim McCarthy- whose executive role and responsibilities will remain unchanged."
