US drinks distributor Southern Wine & Spirits of America has named W. Michael Head as senior vice president, human resources, and has also appointed Mark Krauss as vice president, human resources/corporate policy and integration. Both are newly created roles and take effect from 1 June.
"With these two senior management appointments, Southern Wine & Spirits of America continues to invest in its single most valuable asset: its people," said Lee F. Hager, Southern's vice president, secretary and chief administrative officer. "Both Michael and Mark will help maintain and solidify our overall organisational excellence, enabling us to continue to achieve and deliver best-in-industry levels of service for our customers and supplier partners."
Hager added that Head would have the responsibility of heading up the company's HR functions and "furthering a culture which is a unique combination of a welcoming 'family-oriented' environment coupled with an unrelenting commitment to, and execution of, superior sales and service".
Head previously served as senior vice president, chief human capital officer at Saxon Capital, a national mortgage lender based in Virginia. Before that, he headed up the HR department at Regions Financial and Ingram Industries.
Krauss has been with Southern for 15 years. In his new role, his responsibilities will include research, development, communication and compliance monitoring of Southern's HR policies across all markets.
