Southern Wine & Spirits has snapped up a New York-based distribution company.
The group announced yesterday (12 February) that its New York division will acquire certain assets and affiliates of Eber Cos, which are all based in the state of New York.
The transaction, for an undisclosed sum, includes the acquisition of Eber Bros. Wine & Liquor Corp., including the House of Burgundy and Liberty Wine Co. divisions.
As part of the agreement, Southern will also buy Eber-NDC, a New York venture between Eber and Atlanta-based National Distribution Co. that was set up two years ago.
"It is an exciting day for our New York organisation as we bring together the history and legacy of the Eber organisation with ours," said Southern's president and COO Wayne Chaplin.
"The combined expertise will serve us well as we continue to grow in the New York state market, furthering our goal of being the most customer-oriented and supplier-focused distributor in this great state."
Eber Bros' chairman and CEO Lester Eber added: "The winning combination of Southern's already extensive investment into the New York marketplace, its strong regional and national presence, all combined with the former Eber organisation's local market expertise, will surely make for an even stronger statewide organisation that will benefit all our trading partners."
