South Australian winemaker Boar's Rock is expected to acquire Southcorp's Waikerie winery, according to local press reports.

Though neither company would comment on the sale, newspaper The Advertiser suggested the winery would go for A$12.8m, short of the A$20m many analysts expected the winery to command.

The sale of the Waikerie facility is part of an asset sale Southcorp is conducting within its cost cutting programme Project Veraison.

A Southcorp spokesman was quoted saying the Waikerie winery sale would not be completed until after this year's harvest was completed.
