Scottish & Newcastle has refused to comment on local reports suggesting it is to build a brewery in Vietnam.
Reports in Thailand said today (13 February) that a joint venture between S&N and Vietnam National Tobacco Corp. has been given the go-ahead to build the facility in the southern Long An province of Vietnam.
The reports claimed that the joint venture, The Kronen-Bourg Vietnam Co. Ltd., was given the green light by Vietnam's authorities last week. The brewery will have an annual capacity of 100m litres, TNS claimed.
The news service also said that the brewery should be operational within 18 months of construction commencing.
When contacted by just-drinks today, however, a spokesperson for S&N would not be drawn on the reports.
