Smirnoff vodka was the best-selling international premium spirit of the past year - keeping the Diageo-owned brand's nose in front of Bacardi - both in terms of volume and sales.

Diageo today (10 April) announced Smirnoff as the number one-selling premium distilled spirit in the world  for the second year in a row, according to figures from industry analysts Impact.

Smirnoff global president James Thompson said: "We've known for a long time that Smirnoff's smooth, premium quality and crisp, classic taste make it one of the best vodkas out there.

"Smirnoff's success comes from the distinctive, high-quality product, its heritage, excellent advertising and new packaging that conveys Smirnoff's status as a world-class vodka."
