US: Skyy Spirits to push Suntory brands
Skyy Spirits has secured US distribution rights for a stable of brands owned by Japan's Suntory.
Suntory's Midori Melon Liquer, ZEN Green Tea Liqueur, Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky and Akadama Plum Wine will be distributed in the US as part of the Skyy Spirits' super-premium and luxury portfolio from 1 January.
Together these brands sell in excess of 150,000 nine-litre cases - with Midori accounting for about 90% of this volume.
Skyy Spirits, a subsidiary of Gruppo Campari, hoped the deal would offer long-term growth potential for the company and its stakeholders.
Skyy Spirits' CEO Gerard Ruvo said: "This is an exciting distribution agreement and groundbreaking year for Skyy strategically adding proprietary brands to our super-premium and luxury portfolio."
Suntory International CEO Gensei Murakami said: "We are confident our collective marketing communications efforts will enhance the presence of Suntory products in the US market, notably Midori Melon Liqueur and our new product, ZEN Green Tea Liqueur."
