US: Skinny Nutritional Corp secures 'Skinny' trademark

Skinny Nutritional Corp has secured trademark rights to the name 'Skinny' for several products, including Skinny Water.

Skinny said today (13 July) that it has completed an acquisition of thr trademark rights to 'Skinny' from Peace Mountain Natural Beverages Corporation.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Ron Wilson, Skinny Nutritional CEO, said: "The related marks include Skinny Teas, Skinny Smoothies, Skinny Shakes, Skinny Java, and others. We expect that owning these assets directly will have a significant positive impact on our gross margins and provide us with greater flexibility in building the "Skinny" brand."

In April, Skinny Nutritional Corp announced a loss of more than US$6m for 2008, but saw sales of zero-calorie water nearly triple for the year.
