BRAZIL: Schincariol gets Baden Baden purchase nod - report

By | 27 April 2007

Schincariol has completed its purchase of local craft brewer Baden Baden, according to reports in Brazil.

The brewer, which is the second largest beer company in Brazil behind AmBev, was given the okay to close the deal earlier this week by the Brazilian anti-trust agency Cade. The agency concluded that the purchase, announced in January, would not affect competition in the country's beer market.

The purchase has been completed for an undisclosed sum.

Based in the south-eastern state of Sao Paulo, Baden Baden produces five beer brands under the German Reinheitsgebot brewing laws. Last year, the brewery saw sales total BRL5.5m (US$2.72m).

Sectors: Beer & cider

Companies: AmBev
