Sazerac will handle the three brands on a global basis

Sazerac has signed a licensing deal to distribute three of The Wine Group’s spirits brands globally.

The New Orleans-based spirits group said yesterday (23 February) that it has reached an agreement to market and distribute the California-headquartered firm’s Big House Bourbon, Concannon Irish Whiskey and Piedra Azul Tequila brands worldwide. Concannon and Big House will be handled by Sazerac subsidiary Gemini Spirits and Wine, while Piedra Azul will be marketed directly by Sazerac.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Mark Brown, president of Sazerac, which also owns Kentucky's Buffalo Trace Distillery, said: “We are looking forward to beginning to sell these brands as we feel that they will fit nicely with our existing portfolio of brands and have a potential for future growth."

In October, Sazerac acquired a bottling plant in Maine from Beam Inc. The plant had previously been owned by White Rock, which Sazerac purchased a raft of brands from in 2011 and 2012.
