PHILIPPINES: San Miguel looks to invest in ethanol production

San Miguel Corp has said that it is considering an investment in ethanol production to supply its spirits arm Ginebra San Miguel.

The Philippines-based conglomerate said today (23 July) that it "is studying a possible investment in ethanol production as part of its strategic supply assurance for its liquor business".

According to local press, San Miguel has been eyeing sugarcane lots in three different provinces in the country and might invest up to PHP16.28bn (US$361.5m) to build ethanol plants on those sites.
