PHILIPPINES: San Mig beer growth reaches 20%

By | 29 July 2004

The Philippine food and drink group San Miguel Corp expects to see its beer operations report first half growth in revenues of 20%, benefiting from good volume gains.

"We anticipate China to register volume growth in excess of 20% for the first six months of 2004," said the company. Its Australian and Indonesian markets also performed well during the period, Reuters reported the company saying.

A recovery from the problems associated with SARS has also helped drive international growth.

The company said it expected that in years to come its international business will account for 30% to 40% of its revenues. It accounts for less than 15% today.
