SABMiller has secured the services of former Bacardi CEO Javier Ferrán as a non-exec director

SABMiller is planing to appoint a former CEO of Bacardi to its board as a non-executive director.

Javier Ferrán, who left Bacardi in 2004 after a 20-year career, will be proposed for election to the UK brewer's board at its AGM in July. He served as Bacardi's president & CEO for a year-and-a-half, but resigned citing "personal, family reasons".

Ferrán is currently a non-executive director of Associated British Foods and a member of its audit, nomination and remuneration committees. He is also a partner in Lion Capital LLP, a consumer-focused private equity firm, where he is a member of its investment committee.

John Manser, SABMiller's chairman, said: "I am delighted to welcome Javier to our board. He brings extensive experience of the global alcohol beverage industry, in-depth knowledge of consumer goods and experience of operating in both mature and emerging markets."
