UK: Rosé d’Anjou Wines to sponsor gay exhibition

By | 26 March 2009

Rosé d'Anjou Wines is to be the official sponsor of the upcoming Gay Icons exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, UK.

The exhibition will be held from July to October and celebrates the contribution of gay people to British history and culture.

Pierre Pichot, export manager for InterLoire, the wine trade body for Rosé d'Anjou's native Loire Valley, said today (26 March): "Rosé wines are the trendy wines for early adopter consumers in the UK.

"We wanted to demonstrate that Rosé d'Anjou has the class and quality to appeal to this broad audience via an association with an innovative, edgy and sophisticated partner. The National Portrait Gallery and the Gay Icons exhibition was the perfect choice."

The sponsorship will be supported by various communications including national press advertising, website promotion, flyers and leaflets and a London Underground poster campaign.

Gay Icons opens on 2 July and runs until 18 October.

A panel of ten selectors, chaired by Sandi Toksvig, worked to choose six 'icons' who may or may not be gay themselves. They include Quentin Crisp, Diana Princess of Wales, KD Lang, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Nelson Mandela.
