UK: Robinsons unveils lighter bottle
By just-drinks.com editorial team | 30 July 2008
Soft drinks company Britvic is reducing the amount of packaging used for its Robinsons brand with the introduction of a lighter bottle.
The new one-litre bottle is two grams lighter, which the company said today (30 July) will save around 330 tonnes of plastic per year.
The move is part of a GBP5m (US$9.9m) investment to reduce the weight of packaging used in the Robsinsons brand, and echoes efforts across the UK food and drink industry to cut packaging waste.
Paul Moody, chief executive of Britvic, said: "Robinsons has come a long way in reducing its impact on the environment in the last two years but as always we are focused on further packaging reductions, as well as energy and water usage reductions across all Britvic brands and at all our manufacturing sites."
Britvic launched a new marketing campaign for Robinsons last month with the introduction of a new group of characters - the Taste Buddies - who will appear in a new TV ad for the brand.
