Panos Sarantopoulos has replaced Justin Weston

Remy Cointreau has appointed a new CEO of its liqueurs & spirits division as it targets growth outside its core Remy Martin Cognac brand.

The French company said today that Panos Sarantopoulos replaces Justin Weston, who left the post earlier this year to head up William Grant & Sons' Travel Retail unit. Sarantopoulos has been with Remy since 2011 as CEO of the Metaxa brand.

Previously, he spent 16 years with LVMH in roles including business development director for Hennessy, senior VP of sales for Veuve Clicquot and CEO for the House of Krug.

As well as Metaxa, Sarantopoulos will oversee Remy brands House of Cointreau, St Rémy, liquours Passoa, Izarra and Ponche Kuba and Scotch whisky Guneagal.

The brands are all part of Remy's liqueurs & spirits portfolio, which in Q1 results released this month saw sales climb by 8%.
