Remy Cointreau is winding up the celebrations of Metaxa's 120th anniversary with the launch of a limited edition version of the Greek spirit.

The company said yesterday (2 December) that 1,888 decanters of AEN Metaxa are now available worldwide.

The variant is the oldest blend released by Metaxa, with distillates aged between 20 and 80 years. It comes in a unique hand-made decanter of Crystal de Sevres, bearing a unique serial number and retails for EUR800 (US$1,011) per bottle.

Metaxa is a blend of brandy and wine, invented by Spyros Metaxas in 1888. Remy Cointreau has looked to rejuvenate the brand by pushing the concept of Metaxa and tonic in bars.
