US: Rémy Cointreau USA appoints control state director

US beverage distributor Rémy Cointreau USA has created a new role for a control state director within the firm.

John Byrne will take up the post having spent the past 12 years running the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission.

Byrne was also a past president of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) where he worked on a range of objectives relating to public policy and industry initiatives.

In the US, a control state is one where there is a state monopoly over the wholesale or retail of certain categories of beverage alcohol.
