CHILE: Q2 volumes rise for Compania Cervecerias Unidas

By | 8 July 2010

Compania Cervecerias Unidas has posted a healthy lift in volume sales for its second quarter.

The Chile-based multi-sector drinks firm said yesterday that volumes for the three months to the end of June came in 9.7% up on the corresponding period a year earlier, at 3.6m hectolitres. Beer sales in its home market, which accounts for almost a third of CCU's volumes, were up by 10.2% at 1.04m hectolitres.

The main movement came from exports of Chilean wine, which jumped by 31.3% to 166,148 hectolitres.

For the first six months of 2010, volumes rose by 6.1% to 8.2m hectolitres, with Chilean beer sales flat at 2.4m hectolitres.

CCU is set to release its full results for the second quarter in early August.
