US: Puente acquires Grapevine winery

By | 2 March 2006

Gina Puente Brancato of the Puente Group has acquired Texas wine producer Grapevine's first winery and tasting room, La Buena Vida Vineyards-Grapevine, from Bobby G. Smith, it has been announced.

But Smith, a Texas wine industry pioneer, is to retain ownership of La Buena Vida Vineyards in Springtown, Texas, one of the state's oldest vineyards and wineries.

"We are excited about the conceptual and aesthetic changes being undertaken in our phased expansion plans for La Buena Vida Vineyards," said Gina Puente Brancato yesterday (1 March). "While preserving the historic building, we are implementing the first design phase this year transforming the landscaping and exterior surroundings into a Mediterranean village setting and adding an outside serving bar and bandstand area."

Puente Brancato already owns the two La Bodega Wineries, the world's first and only wineries in an airport, located at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Terminals A and D.

La Buena Vida Vineyards-Grapevine will continue producing and selling wines under the Springtown, Grapevine, La Buena Vida and Walnut Creek Cellars brands, as well as some private label wines.
