UK company Unsweet Drinks has launched its first product, an unsweetened lemonade targeted at supporting healthy eating.

Unsweet lemonade is available in Sicilian Lemon & Mexican Lime flavour and is being launched as part of Harvey Nichols’ 'January Detox' week. “Sugar has a bad reputation and so do artificial sweeteners, plus stevia has a bad aftertaste that so far nobody has been able to mask successfully,” said Unsweet owner Andre Hess, who is also the general manager of the MangaJo ice tea brand.

“Unsweet lemonade fits the zeitgeist and we hope to capitalise on the government’s drive to reduce sugar in soft drinks.”

Unsweet lemonade contains eight calories per bottle. The brand will be supported with experiential marketing, tastings and social media competitions and advertising.

Last month, Coca-Cola Enterprises said it is to roll out the stevia-based Coca-Cola Life across all of its European territories.
