C&C Group has added two flavours to its Magners Light cider brand, seven years after it was first launched.

Magners Pear Light (4.5% abv) and Magners Orchard Berries Light (4% abv) are available to retailers in the UK from this month. They join Magners Original Light, which was introduced to the UK off-trade in 2007.

Orchard Berries contains 103 calories per bottle, while Pear contains 107. Both are available in 4x33cl packs.

“There is no other low-calorie cider retaining the same abv on the market, therefore this new proposition is in a strong position to perform well in the UK off trade,” said Ed Shoebridge, head of customer marketing at C&C.

Magners Launches Exciting New Range of Flavours for Magners Light

Magners, the premium Irish Cider brand, has announced the launch of a new range of fruit flavours for its low calorie cider, Magners Light. 

In addition to the existing Magners Original Light (ABV 4%), two new fruit variants will be added to the range, Magners Pear Light (ABV 4.5%) and Magners Orchard Berries Light (ABV 4%). Both have been carefully created to ensure the much-loved flavour remains, while delivering 30 per cent less calories.   

At 103 calories per bottle, Orchard Berries Light is the first new flavour to be released and will be available in 4x330ml pack. On shelf this week in Tesco, the launch to off trade will be supported with a number of in store initiatives to drive awareness and shopper trial mechanics.

“The new additions to the Magners Light range will attract a variety of audiences but particularly 20-30 year old female drinkers who love the original flavour and refreshment of regular Magners, but that are looking for fewer calories. 

“We believe that this exciting addition to the Magners portfolio will appeal to our fan base of customers and consumers as the range gives them choice and the option to select a product that is right for them. There is no other low calorie cider retaining the same ABV on the market, therefore this new proposition is in a strong position to perform well in the UK off trade.”

Magners Original (ABV 4.5%) remains the UK’s favourite modern apple cider, available to the off trade in bottle and can formats, along with Magners Pear (ABV 4.5%).
