POLAND: Polmos Sieradz sanctioned by revenue office after failing to pay taxes

By Sarah Diston | 30 November 2000

Polmos Sieradz has been banned from buying alcohol for production by the local revenue office after at least five state-owned Polmos distilleries failed to pay taxes.

Sieradz workers protested to the finance ministry to have the sanctions lifted - local press claim that the debt to the revenue office is around ZL106m.

Other Polmos distilleries mentioned in local press reports concerning tax evasion are apparently Polmos Krakow, Polmos Szczecin, Polmos Lodz and Koneser.dlej based in Warsaw.
