A pint of Guinness is expected to rise in price by 15 cents across the Republic of Ireland, after brand owner Diageo announced that it intended to raise the keg price by about €5.45, a figure which equates to about 6.2 cent on the price of a pint.
Reports in the Irish press state that the 6.2 cent figure is then subject to VAT, bringing the increase per pint up to about 7.8 cent.

On top of that licensed vintners are expected as normal to then add on an increase similar to that imposed by the brewers, bringing the price of a pint up by 14 cents.
However, experts believe it will be rounded up to 15c by the publicans.
