Pernod Ricard has lined up a limited edition bottle for its Malibu flavoured rum brand in the US.

The French drinks group said late last week that the bottle, which will be available in the country from this month, will highlight Malibu's partnership with Reef Check, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to monitoring, protecting and rehabilitating reefs worldwide.

Malibu will also make an unspecified contribution to Reef Check from the sale of the bottles.

Starting from the beginning of this month and running to the end of August, a competition will offer ten internships established to help monitor coral reef health in Thailand, the Maldives or the Philippines.

Earlier this year, Pernod, which inherited Malibu, Kahlúa and Tia Maria when it acquired Allied Domecq in 2005, said that the three brands - which make up Malibu-Kahlúa International - will come under Absolut Company's control later this year.
