McQuaid will take over as CMO next year

Pernod Ricard is to replace its CMO next year with the current head of its South Africa unit.

Conor McQuaid, MD of Pernod South Africa, will take over on 1 January after a four-month stint as VP of marketing, starting Monday. McQuaid replaces CMO Martin Riley, who will retire, Pernod told just-drinks today.

During the transition period, McQuaid and Riley will work to merge Pernod's commercial development and marketing units as part of the company's Allegro cost-cutting programme.

McQuaid will report to Pernod's MD for brands, Thierry Billot, who yesterday announced he will retire at the end of January.
