Pernod Ricard aims to secure 10% of the Polish vodka market for its brand, Wyborowa, doubling its share from its current 5%. According to Yves Flassier, president of Pernod's Polish subsidiary, the French drinks combine will have invested some ZL35 million in its Polish operation by the end of 2002.

Pernod Ricard also plans to develop sales of its Polish vodka brands in the US. Pernod Ricard recently won an important legal case in Poland against the Polmos distillery which had been marketing vodka under the Wyborna brand. On the grounds that the brand was too similar to Wyborowa, Polmos was forced to discontinue the product and withdraw all bottles already in circulation.
