Pernod Ricard has said it hopes to have completed the sale of Scotch whisky distillery Glendronach by September.

A Pernod spokesperson told just-drinks today (11 August) the sale was "making good progress and we expect to complete the transaction by September".

The distillery is one of several peripheral spirits businesses Pernod Ricard is understood to be looking to discard over the coming months.

The front-runner to seal Glendronach is thought to be a South African consortium, which already owns the BenRiach distillery on Speyside. A report in the Scotsman newspaper said the deal could be worth up to GBP15m (US$28.8bn).
