PepsiCo has said it will revamp all bottles in its single-serve beverage range after unveiling its first new 16- and 20-ounce Pepsi containers in 17 years.

The Pepsi bottles will launch in the US next month and cover Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi MAX and Pepsi NEXT, PepsiCo said late last week. They feature an etched, grip-able bottom and follow the swirl bottles that first launched in the US in 1996.

A PepsiCo spokesperson told just-drinks the new Pepsi bottle is the company's second in a planned rethink of its soft drinks portfolio. Mountain Dew has a different bottle shape to Pepsi and “all other brands in the PepsiCo beverage portfolio will also have a new look across the single serve line,” the spokesperson said.

The packaging will be rolled out throughout the year in the US, with no plans yet for a wider release, PepsiCo said.

Last week, PepsiCo stayed quiet on reports investor Nelson Peltz was attempting to force a merger between the snacks and soft drinks giant and Cadbury's maker Mondelez International.
