The Pepsi-Lipton Tea Partnership has announced the launch of Lipton Sparkling Green Tea, marking the first sparkling beverage under the Lipton trademark.
A blend of fruit flavours, green tea and lightly sparkling water, Lipton Sparkling is intended to satisfy consumer demand for healthier soft drinks, said venture partners PepsiCo and Unilever today (22 April).
"Lipton Sparkling Green Tea brings together the great taste and the goodness of tea that are trademarks of Lipton Iced Tea, with the fun and sparkle of a soda," said Mary Barnard, vice president of the Pepsi-Lipton Tea Partnership.
This spring Lipton Sparkling Green Tea will be available across the US in regular Berry and both diet and regular Strawberry Kiwi. Packaged in 20-ounce, 1.5-litre and 16.9-ounce 12-packs, the new drink will be supported by TV, radio and digital advertising.
Green tea has been the fastest growing segment of the ready-to-drinks tea category, with an average annual growth rate of 16.5% from 2006 to 2008, the firms said. Lipton Iced Tea accounts for 42% of category sales.

My favorite lines are "In every single sip you'll taste the passion and pride. That's why Lipton tea is loved world-wide. An on-the-go, ready-to-drink Masterpiece."
