US: PepsiCo to build new Oklahoma plant

PepsiCo is planning to build a new facility in Oklahoma.

The drinks giant will spend US$180m on the construction of a manufacturing and distribution facility in the north-east of the state, Gov. Brad Henry confirmed yesterday (8 June). The plant, located in Pryor near Tulsa, will create 280 jobs and will produce Gatorade Thirst Quencher and Propel Fitness Water.

Speaking to Tulsa World, Henry said: "Oklahoma is excited about what this announced plant will mean for the state. The facility in Pryor will bring good-paying jobs and a significant economic impact projected to exceed US$5bn over the next 10 years. In addition, PepsiCo will benefit from a highly skilled workforce known for its unparalleled work ethic and loyalty.

"This is a win-win for both Oklahoma and PepsiCo."
