The role is newly-created

PepsiCo has appointed a global chief marketing officer to brand Pepsi ahead of a sweetener launch it hopes will transform the CSD category.

Kirsten Patrick, who starts in the newly-created role this week, was previously CMO at Playboy Enterprises. She has also held marketing roles at The Walt Disney Company, Calvin Klein and GAP, a PepsiCo spokesperson told just-drinks today (3 June).

"She is responsible for some of the most iconic marketing campaigns of the last decade, including the groundbreaking RED campaign for the GAP and the Polaroid/Lady Gaga partnership," the spokesperson added.

Patrick's appointment comes as PepsiCo prepares to unveil a sweetener and flavouring innovation. The group's CEO Indra Nooyi has claimed the move could “alter the trajectory of the cola business”.

Last week, Nooyi said the company had three to five years to win back CSD consumers before they abandon the category for juices and lower-calorie options.
