UKRAINE: PepsiAmericas, PepsiCo take control of Sandora

By | 6 November 2007

PepsiAmericas and PepsiCo have completed their purchase of the remaining shares in Ukrainian juice company Sandora.

The two companies confirmed today (6 November) that they have successfully acquired the 20% stake in Sandora that they do not already own. The purchase of the stake, valued by the two companies at US$136.7m gives PepsiAmericas and PepsiCo total control of Sandora, and gives them "a strong platform for growth".

"The transaction is not expected to have an impact on PepsiAmericas' nor PepsiCo's previously announced earnings per share guidance for 2007," the companies said.

In August, PepsiAmericas and PepsiCo bought an 80% holding in Sandora through a joint venture. PepsiAmericas holds a 60% stake in Sandora, with today's acquisition upping PepsiCo's share from 20% to 40%.

While PepsiAmericas will handle the day-to-day operations of the business, PepsiCo will oversee brand development at Sandora.

Sandora accounts for around 50% of the total juice volume consumed in Ukraine.
