US: Pepsi Bottling Group completes bottler acquisition

Pepsi Bottling Group has completed its acquisition of Pepsi-Cola Bottlers for the Merrimack Valley for an undisclosed fee.

The deal gives Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) a greater presence in northeastern Massachusetts in the US.

The firm added that its deal to buy fellow Pepsi bottler Ab-Tex Beverage in Texas should be completed during the third quarter of 2009.

PBG, which has completed four bottler buyouts since the start of 2008, recently rejected a takeover offer from parent group PepsiCo.

Earlier this month, the bottler reported a 7% drop in net sales for the first half of the year.
