US: PBG buys Cadbury Schweppes rights from Nor-Cal
The Pepsi Bottling Group has secured the distribution and bottling rights to three Cadbury Schweppes brands in Northern California.
PBG said late last night (9 January) that it had struck a deal with the brands' former distributor Nor-Cal Beverage Co.
PBG will begin handling Dr Pepper, Squirt and Hawaiian Punch in 14 counties throughout the north of the state during the first quarter of the year.
A PBG spokesperson told just-drinks that the deal is "an additional opportunity for us to add strong brands to our already very strong portfolio".
She said: "Nor-Cal was looking to sell these distribution rights and we already have operations in the 14 counties so this was an excellent opportunity for us."
Financial details surrounding the deal were not disclosed.
Nor-Cal is a major independent contract packer of chilled juices and hot-fill beverages with production facilities in West Sacramento and Anaheim.
