US: North Country bottled water product recall
By just-drinks.com editorial team | 31 March 2006
A bottled water company in New York state has been hit by a product recall.
North Country Spring Water, located in Port Kent, has recalled its bottled water as it may be contaminated with dirt and coliform bacteria, the company said earlier this week. North Country's water is carried under a range of different brand names, although the affected product bears the label 'NYSHD Cert. 078.'
The company has found itself in hot water with authorities in neighbouring Vermont, who say that they were not notified of the recall. Although North Country alerted the media, which it is obligated to do, it did not notify Vermont officials, as required by its permit to distribute water in the state.
North Country has had its Vermont permit suspended until the issue is remedied.
