Asahi Breweries has appointed a new president. The Japanese company said today (10 February) that Hitoshi Ogita, the current president of Asahi Soft Drinks, will assume the position from 30 March.

Ogita, 64, will succeed outgoing president Koichi Ikeda, 65, who will assume the positions of both chairman and CEO at the brewer. Ikeda has also been holding the position of chief operating officer at Asahi Breweries.

Ogita has been president at Asahi Soft Drinks since March 2003.

The announcement coincided with the brewer posting a dip in sales last year, while profits rose by 30% to JPY39.87bn (US$340m).
