Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia posted net profit of RM125.97 million for the year to the end of December, a 14% increase from 2000. However, the company attributed the improvement to other investment income, profit from associated companies and lower income tax. Turnover fell slightly to RM841.11 million from RM851.98 million.

Fourth quarter net profit was down 24% to RM20.26 million from RM26.92 million with turnover slipping by 14% to RM192.73 million. The company said the slump in the fourth quarter was due to adverse economic conditions which had affected consumption of beer and stout, warning that the prevailing economic conditions would continue into the new financial year.
