FRANCE: Nestle takes control of HOD subsidiary
Nestle Waters has taken full control of French Home & Office Delivery (HOD) countepart, Saphir.
As with all companies joining the group, Saphir will now market Nestle Waters Aquarel brand.
Nestle Waters took a 33% stake in Montpellier-based Saphir in October 2002 and has now raised its shareholding to 100%.
Saphir, which markets the Opalia brand, has an annual turnover of €12m and employs 120 staff.
Nestle Waters is now the second biggest operator on the French water cooler market distributing units over the whole of France from a network of 25 warehouses.
The full purchase of Saphir follows two other acquisitions in France over the past couple of years- RB Diffusion and Aquacool.
While the HOD distribution channel only represents a small share of the overall bottled water market, it is currently recording annual growth of 10 to 15%.
