Nestle has still not ruled out selling the Perrier brand. The Swiss company's chief executive, Peter Brabeck, said today (21 October) that selling the French bottled mineral water unit remains an option.

In an interview with CNBC, Brabeck said: "Perrier isn't essential to Nestle's water business," adding that the unit's contribution to the bottom line was marginal.

At the end of July, Nestle scrapped a planned overhaul of its French mineral water operations, citing mounting opposition from trade unions. The company has since been weighing up whether to divest the brand.
