Natursaft Sachsen GmbH is looking to double its output volume. The German fruit juice producer said on Monday (4 October) that it plans to invest €35m (US$43m) to increase its output of apple juice and apple concentrate for European industrial consumers. The company also plans to begin bottling and selling its own brand products from early next year.

The company, East Germany's sole orange juice producer prior to reunification, hopes to complete its investment programme by 2006, and will increase the number of permanent employees from the current 30 to 70.

Natursaft Sachsen has also completed the first step of a €3.5m investment project for the construction of 82 apple juice storage tanks with a total capacity of 13.5m litres in Ablass, eastern Germany.
