Molson Coors said the purchase will open up opportunities for experimental brewing

Molson Coors has bought contract brewer Thomas Hardy's brewing and kegging facilities at the UK's Burtonwood Brewery.

The deal, announced earlier today, follows Molson Coors UK's “long-standing” partnership with Thomas Hardy, the Coors Light owner said. Thomas Hardy will continue to run its contract bottling business from the shared Burtonwood site near Warrington in north-west England.

Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Victoria Segebarth, supply chain director for Molson Coors UK & Ireland, said the acquisition “will open up the potential for experimental brewing in addition to exploring partnership opportunities with our customers”.

This month, Molson Coors UK said it was rebooting its on-trade wholesale business with a new identity in a bid to become the market leader.
