Molson Canada has announced it has acquired Ontario microbrewery Creemore Springs Brewery Ltd. Established in 1987, the brewery in Creemore, Ontario, 120 kilometres northwest of Toronto, employs 50 people and produces Creemore Springs premium lager.

"Creemore is rounding up Molson's brand portfolio and will strongly position us in the domestic super-premium segment, becoming an engine for growth…," said Kevin Boyce, president and CEO, Molson Canada.

He said that the Canadian arm of the Molson-Coors brewing giant will not interfere with the day-to-day running of its new acquisition, insisting it will allow it to "continue operating as a distinct organisation benefiting from its own people, knowledge, recipes and marketing methods."

Details of the deal were not disclosed but Molson said it intended to expand the Creemore Springs brand outside of Ontario and invest more money into marketing while "remaining truthful" to the brand's "identity."
