The Indian beverage group Mohan Meakin (MML) is understood to be looking at divesting all or part of its brewing business. The company was reported this week to have employed PricewaterhouseCoopers to manage the sale.

Recent speculation has suggested that MML was looking to expand its beer business by attracting a foreign brewer to invest in the division. However, local sources say a full sale is now more likely.

The Indian press this week linked SABMiller as a potential suitor, however a source close to the situation told just-drinks that he believed the international brewer to be "very unlikely to be interested".

The business includes the Golden Eagle beer brand.
