Mike's hard lemonade, one of the bands that began the ready-to-drink category in the US, is to move its HQ from Denver to Seattle.

Founder Anthony Von Mandl, who began the company in 1999 said: "Not only is Seattle rich in what's been called the 'creative class', it's also one of our best markets."

In Seattle, mike's is the best-selling "malternative," outperforming its closest competitor by 60%, the company said.

For the moment, mike's hard lemonade(R) employs more than 90 people nationally. von Mandl foresees substantially increasing that number once he establishes the new headquarters in April of this year.

Among his hires locally will be the company's first-ever president.

von Mandl has named Deb Louvier to be chief talent scout for mike's hard lemonade(R) in Seattle. She will be looking for top people in marketing, finance, human resources, operations and information technology, a statement said.
