UK: Macaw lands Ocean Spray deal
The UK soft drink company Macaw has won the rights to bottle a number of Ocean Spray products in the UK market.
The company, which produces its own H2 brand, will co-pack products for Ocean Spray including its no preservatives range of juice drinks available in White Cranberry and Peach, White Cranberry and Grape and White Cranberry and Apple in 1 ½ L PET.
Macaw is also currently co-packing a children's juice range for Metro Drinks, including strawberry and banana and orange and mango, and a calcium water and a soya-based drinks range for Boots.
Twelve months ago the company invested £11m in a new aseptic plant in Lancashire, where the Ocean Spray brands will be bottled.
Marnie Millard, sales and marketing director at Macaw, said: "Macaw originally invested in the state of the art aseptic technology at the company's second site in Nelson to produce our new H2 brand; H2 Flavoured Spring Water, H2 4 Kids and H2 Sports Drink. This enabled the production of ambient, preservative-free, still soft drinks for the first time in the UK by a private company."
She continued: "We are delighted to be able to stretch our potential even further by working in partnership with such an established brand as Ocean Spray. It's a fantastic step forward for Macaw and we look forward to demonstrating the capabilities of our plant by pursuing more production opportunities with other big name brands."
