PORTUGAL: Local entrepreneur buys Sogrape stake

A local entrepeneur has taken control of a third of Portuguese wine group Sogrape, according to local press reports.

Joe Berardo has bought a 33% stake in Sogrape for an undisclosed sum, local news agencies reported yesterday (17 July). Berardo was reported to have bought the shareholding from the Carmo family.

Officials at Sogrape, which owns a stable of brands including wine label Finca Flichman and Mateus rosé, failed to return requests for comment as just-drinks went to press.
