Leading Brands has booked a net loss in H1

Leading Brands has posted a net loss in the first six months of the year.

For the period to the end of August, the soft drinks firm made a loss of CAD140,848 (US$137,220) compared to net profits of CAD1.01m in the prior-year period, the company said today (30 September).

Net sales amounted to CAD11m, a slight drop from the CAD12.5m recorded last year.

EBITDA dropped to C$2m from C$2.2m in the 2009 period.

In the second quarter, the company made a loss of CAD549,072 compared to profits of CAD809,455 in the prior year. Sales slid to CAD5.87m from CAD6.1m, while EBITDA dropped to CAD1.1m from CAD1.5m.
