FRANCE: Laurent Perrier toasts FY figures rise
Laurent Perrier has posted a leap in full-year income.
The Champagne company said yesterday (13 June) that net attributable income for its financial year to 31 March jumped by 37% on the corresponding period a year earlier, reaching EUR22.47m (US$28.38m). Sales for the year also rose, as announced last month, by 9% to EUR208m.
The company saw Champagne shipments plateau in France, although exports were up by around 5%.
"Growth in the group's four core brands - Laurent-Perrier, Salon, De Castellane and Delamotte - continued to outpace the market," the company said. "Export performances were particularly satisfying and this segment now accounts for 63.9% of group's revenues or one percentage point gain versus 2004-2005. Laurent-Perrier's premium brand wines saw a strong expansion too and now generate 36% of revenues, also representing one percentage point gain compared to the previous year."
Going forward, the company said that it believed the market will continue to grow.
"The group is strengthening its presence on the premium product sector, thanks to the new visual identity of the Laurent-Perrier brand and to the development of Grand Siècle sales," Laurent Perrier said. "The group therefore plans further positive price/mix effects in order to sustain its sales growth."
Investments in 2006-2007 will be mainly dedicated to extend the group's production capacity, particularly the winery, in order to follow the growth of the Laurent Perrier brand sales.
