Champagne house Laurent-Perrier has created - and filled - a senior position in its UK sales force.

The French company said today (9 January) that, in his position as UK sales director, Steve Brandwood would be responsible for sales of Laurent-Perrier Champagnes and the agency wines of Marqués de Riscal, Trinity Hill and Thorn-Clarke to all UK trade sectors.

After 19 years in the wine business, working in both the off- and on-trade, Brandwood joined Laurent-Perrier as off-trade national account manager in October 2000, becoming off-trade national sales manager in April 2005.

Benoit Gallienne, meanwhile, has been appointed off-trade national sales manager responsible for sales of Laurent-Perrier and the agency wines to the UK national multiple and travel retail sectors. Gallienne joined Laurent-Perrier as off-trade national account manager in 2005 from a key account manager position with Oddbins Wholesale.

Laurent-Perrier posted a 10.5% rise in sales for the first half of 2006, coming in at EUR100.3m (US$128.2m).
